Workshop Facilitation Tool – For Large-Scale Interactive Displays

Year: 2025

Design of a digital tool to support workshops on serveral 2.5m-wide touch displays.

The goal of this project was to translate a complex, facilitator-led workshop from an analog, post-it-based format into an interactive digital experience. The tool was developed for use on several 2.5-meter-wide touch displays and other devices, enabling collaborative decision-making, mapping and reflection exercises during live sessions.

Final screens and visual materials are not shown here due to confidentiality.

Challenge

Adapting analog workshop logic to a digital format meant rethinking spatial structure, interaction design, and content hierarchy – while preserving the facilitators’ freedom and flexibility. The large-scale display setup required special consideration for ergonomics, group dynamics and screen readability at a distance.

My Role

As the UX designer on the project, I was responsible for:

  • Mapping the full workshop process and identifying core functional phases
  • Translating physical tasks into digital interactions
  • Conducting observational research (via dry-runs with facilitators) to understand needs and constraints
  • Creating service blueprints, flows and wireframes
  • Collaborating with the development team to balance feasibility and flexibility
  • Writing requirement documents and aligning the solution with internal stakeholders

Outcome

The resulting tool supported real-time collaboration across multiple workshop phases, with intuitive gestures, clear structure and a focused visual style. By digitising the process, the team could reduce preparation overhead, ensure consistency across sessions, and support data capture for post-session analysis.
